FOUND THE PARADISE IN WHITE ISLAND CAMIGUIN

The small and unspoiled island province of Camiguin in Northern Mindanao boasts white beaches, diving spots, mountain trekking, volcano tours and a few waterfalls. Camiguin is a paradise for both tourists looking for tranquility or thrill-seekers hungry for adventure. Perhaps one of the most photographed destinations in the region, this island off the northern tip of the province is the must-visit place when in Camiguin.

White Island is located just 1 km off shore and just in front of Camiguin’s only tourist beach. It is a C – shaped, huge sand bar which changes its shape and size with the season. There are no trees or anything else on White Island which could give you some shadow and protection from the sun. If you want to spend some hours on White Island, make sure to bring some parasol or other sunshade with you.

The short boat trip to White Island is very popular with local tourists who come to the Camiguin ond weekends and public holidays. They will go there as early as 5:00 am and come back at 8:00 am to avoid the hot sun at noon.
Foreign tourists usually go to White Island for diving. The sandbar is surounded by a colorfull coral reef on one side and a huge forest of “Black Coral” on the other side. But watch out: The current at White Island can be very strong.

White Island is best for snorkling . To have a romantic scenery in camiguin wait for the sunset in white island it will give travelers a once in a lifetime experience.

How to get there:

Camiguin has its own airport. If you’re coming from Manila, you can connect in Cebu because there are no direct flights. Alternatively, you may fly to Cagayan de Oro. Take the shuttle to Agora Terminal (P199), then the bus bound for Balingoan Pier (P110). Board a ferry to Benoni Wharf in Camiguin, then a multicab or a tricycle to the jumpoff point in Brgy. Yumbing. From here, White Island is just 10 minutes away. Boat fare is P480.
